At center stage during the celebration of the birthday of Governor Araceli B. Wong was a 105-year old co-celebrant who amused everyone with ther secret to old age in abstinence from eating food with garlic, onion and no NFA rice all her life.
The birth of Mrs. Cenona Trejo of Gigmoto considered as one of the oldest in the province falls on the 15th of April, same date Governor Wong came to earth fifty eight years ago.
But the fun and amusement of guests to the century and five years old woman faded for a while with the arrival of investors from Xiamen, China who gave Catandunganons bright hopes for economic development in the province.
Incidental to the celebration of Governor’s birthday was the scheduled visit of 15 Chinese investors for an overview of the Santo Domingo project site of the proposed Catanduanes Convention Center in a 2-hectare land which will also accommodate condominium units, modern sports facilities and serve as temporary getaway for residents in coastal areas during stormy seasons.
According to conceptual development plans of the provincial government, there will be individual investnments on the multi-faceted project which blueprint also includes commercial establishments and grand terminal for transport facilities to ferry passengers to all parts of the province.
Day after, the entourage composed mostly of young investors proceeded to Caramoan Peninsula which is the opposite side of the proposed Friendship Bridge over the inland seas between Catanduanes and Camarines Sur.
The group paid a visit to Tugawe Island which is one among many in the northern side of Cam Sur for other possible business ventures.
The evening portion of the momentous day of the Governor was celebrated at the ARDCI Inn with traders and businessmen, officials and personnel of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office, the inseparable Tiya Nimfa and Conching Co, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and Vice-Governor Bong Teves and Executive Judge Lelu P. Contreras who sat with members of the media.
Mr. Bong Wong, the soft-spoken husband of the Governor with children Buboy and Pandan Mayor Al Randie Joseph were also seen dancing and singing with members of the Arcilla Band.
More than attendance to the birthday celebrations, Mr. Yco Tan and hairstylists of his Evegate Salon in Legazpi City reached out to men and women enthusiastic of seeing hair looks of modern design in the Capitol Dome which was the venue for free haircut that also coincided with observance of Women’s Month.
